Marcelo Fernan Bridge, Cebu City

3.1
#10 of 18 in Sightseeing in Cebu City
Bridge Tourist Spot
The widest and longest bridge in Cebu, Marcelo Fernan Bridge spans across a sea channel connecting two islands and offering scenic views of the coast on both sides. The Japanese government helped fund the construction of the cable-suspended bridge, which spans over 1,200 m (4,000 ft) and carries the name of Cebu’s former Supreme Court judge and senator. You can either walk on wide pedestrian lanes or drive over the bridge to enjoy the views. The traffic on the bridge gets heavy occasionally, since many cars pass over on their way to the airport. On the Mactan side, visit a small park below the bridge, a favorite gathering place for locals. Where to stay in Cebu City

The most popular place to stay in Cebu City remains uptown, particularly around the university district near Junquera Street station. Here you'll find a good range of hotels, hostels, and guesthouses of varying quality, but with a well-established base level representing value for money. Further north, look along Dalan Osmena to find a good number of standard and luxury hotels located north and south of the roundabout. The downtown area has more closely knitted streets, with just a few guesthouses located along primarily residential roads.

  • Its a connection to paknaan and faster to reach ur destination once u visit lapu2x city
  • Best route to Mactan Cebu International airport
  • The bridge is relatively new and in was funded by a Japanese government 3rd world development fund. This bridge is often the most efficient and quickest way to Mactan and the airport - or it was until the worsening Cebu traffic resulted in transit times of up to one hour to cross the bridge. You are better off in a helicopter
