Categories: Monuments, Tourist Spots
Gaze upon the towering Cebu Heritage Monument, an imposing structure depicting events throughout the history of Cebu. Cement, bronze, steel, and iron form a tableau of sculptures showing important scenes from the city's exciting past. Multi-award-winning sculptor Eduardo Castrillo conceptualized the monument, which was unveiled in December 2000. Located in the same place as the original Plaza Parian, the monument portrays structures including the Basilica del Santo Niño and Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, as well as scenes from the Battle of Mactan between Lapu-Lapu and Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan.
