Wawa Dam, Calabarzon Region

(2.9/5 based on 10+ reviews on the web)
Wawa Dam is a gravity dam constructed over the Marikina River in the municipality of Rodriguez in Rizal province, Philippines. The slightly arched dam is situated in the 360m high Montalban Gorge or Wawa Gorge, a water gap in the Sierra Madre Mountains, east of Manila. It was built in 1909 during the American colonial era to provide the water needs for Manila. It used to be the only source of water for Manila until Angat Dam was built and Wawa was abandoned. Due to insufficiency of water supply for Metro Manila, there was a strong clamor to reuse the dam.

  • . Great place for accessible outdoor recreation and activities ranging from simply family recreation, to hiking and mountain sports like rock climbing and mountain biking. Shower area and other amenities are readily accessible and nicely priced home cooked meals. Best of all its only not far away from the metro
  • very nice place actually i lived here in montalban so guys if you want to experience a new adventure just visit wawa Dam
  • This place is cool! Yet they need to clean the area and maintain it well. Poor management of this beautiful nature.
  • Very nice getaway place, though don't expect a pristine-clear water. Water is quite muddy, but naturally clean. Definitely recommended for people who want something different from pools or resorts.
  • Cool place to visit, been there 3 times. Went there last April 11, 2015
