Mount Pinatubo, Botolan

4.2
#1 of 70 in Parks in Central Luzon Region
Responsible for one of the largest and most catastrophic volcanic eruptions in the 20th century, Mount Pinatubo casts a formidable silhouette over the Cabusilan mountain skyline. Known worldwide for its June 1991 eruption, the once devastated, debris-covered landscape now flourishes with new life, surrounded with valleys home to the indigenous Aeta tribe. Hike along 5.5 km (3.4 mi) of relatively flat trail through dramatic scenery to see the aquamarine hues of the crater lake, a shimmering gem at the foot of the active volcano. Bring plenty of water and a light picnic to enjoy by the lake’s edge, and consider hiring a guide to accompany you on the walk. • You need to go by off-road vehicles and walk into this volcano mountain. On the way, you might see very friendly local people. Remember to bring candy to local kids (they very love it). Let spend at least two hours to enjoy the scenery and discover here. Very peaceful and romantic. Very fresh air and enjoyable. Authority prohibit people go swimming here based on accidents happened before. The volcano lake changes its color in different season. Mostly, traveller begin from Manila from 3 AM, take a ride to location near Pinatubo mountain, then take off-road vehicle to reach mountain, and walk nearly one hour to climb to Pinatubo mountain to see its volcano lake. You will never forget the trip in your life
  • Overall it was a really good experience. It's just really pricey when you're just going to see one sight, and it's going to cost you more to see more. I understand why it's pricey but I think it could be a little bit more reasonable. Anyway be prepared. It is very hot and humid there. The trip on the 4x4 will be very dusty as well. Bring a bandana, mask and cap. Make sure to apply sunscreen as well.
  • It was a nice experienced. The hike was fun at all. Worth the money.
  • Be ready to bring your hiking equiments. The terrain is a bit rocky and slippery so make sure to use the appropriate footwear. The view is so majestic, i recommend to bring a drone to fully appreciate its beauty. And btw, the 4x4 ride is a must try as well.
