Sabang Beach, Baler

(3.9/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Sabang Beach attracts surfers and those wanting to learn how to surf with its strong and frequent waves. As the story goes, the film crew of Coppola’s legendary movie “Apocalypse Now” left some surfboards behind when they packed to return home, which encouraged the locals to have a go and led to Sabang becoming the cradle of Philippine surfing. Hostels and hotels occupy the northern part of the sandy beach, while the southern side is reserved for cottages and campsites. Restaurants, bars, and grills line the road that leads along the beach. Using our world travel planner, Baler attractions like Sabang Beach can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • It was my first time to try surfing and it was fun! Though I was not able to surf perfectly but glad I tried it. Not safe for those who can't swim well since the waves were wild. There were people who...  more »
  • My kids are 20, 17 and 16. They each had their own surfboard rental (beginner - with foam) and instructor. They had so much fun!
