Our Lady of Atonement Cathedral, Baguio

4.3
#2 of 11 in Historic Sites in Baguio
Ascend a hill to get closer to God at Our Lady of Atonement Cathedral. Colored a distinctive pink, the church shows a unique architectural style, complete with pyramidal rooftops and twin belfries. The interior decoration and intricate stained-glass rose windows contribute to the typical Catholic ornamentation. See the place dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, which was the safe house and an evacuation center during World War II. The view from the observation deck shows the city landscape from the large courtyard within the church itself. • Like all areas in Baguio, it takes an uphill climb to get to the church from the main road. The church is well-maintained and there are masses in English and the native dialect.  more »

  • Beautiful, scenic place of worship. Offers mass every hour.
  • A distinctive landmark and one of the oldest churches in the city, sitting on top of a hill. It's structural design dates back to the early 1900s, if not, even older.
  • Too many vehicles.. almost not able to get a decent parking slot
  • I was able to attend mass @ 6:30 am, going there by walking alone from my hotel.. At least I was able to pray during my short stay.. A very solemn church for me..
  • A must place to visit when in Baguio City. The Cathedral has a distinct pink facade build on a romanesque architecture. It also serves as a memorial for thousands who died the carpet-bombing of Bagiuo during world war 2.

Look for upscale accommodations near Burnham Park, where you can check into a room with views over the central green area. Some resorts farther out of the city center make use of the increase in space by offering pools, onsite restaurants, and other amenities. You'll find these establishments on the outskirts of town, or along the side streets in and around the city center.
