San Sebastian Cathedral, Bacolod

4.0
#1 of 17 in Things to do in Bacolod
Appreciate the imposing stone facade of San Sebastian Cathedral, the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bacolod. The church was buit in 1876, and has since undergone many renovations, picking up a life-size statue of Saint Sebastian along the way. Its architecture tells its history, and when you enter the first thing you’ll see is the magnificent altar. The church's interior also boasts a white ceiling with golden details, as well as rows of wooden pews, while its churchyard contains two bells that once adorned the bell towers. See the cathedral's columbarium, where the remains of bishops lie. For San Sebastian Cathedral and beyond, use our Bacolod trip itinerary planning tool to get the most from your Bacolod vacation.

  • Start off your historic visits of turn-of-the-century Negrense architecture by dropping by this church. A Bacolod tourist standard, it's worth the visit after all.  more »
  • Classical beautiful cathedral. Love the chandeliers and the exterior. You’ll also find catacombs although I’ve only been right outside the door leading down to the tombs and haven’t stepped inside. I ...  more »
  • MassKaraFestival to come to Bacolod. You can get this church on the north side of the CityPlaza, because it looks good from a distance, without a doubt. Must be a good Church is a meeting place, to be in place is best. If in doubt, get together here.

  • Historical site. A spiritual and worship place located at the heart of the City of smiles 😀😁
  • Catholic place of worship but not as solemn as it used to be with so many sick people begging for compassion.
  • Love How It Looks Hehehejje Loloolollol Trolololol MINCRAFTTTTTTTT YO BOI MOOSE CRAFT LOLOLOOL
  • A must place to go when your visiting Bacolod. A historical place that its wall and structure tell us. Its a solemn place as well. There is no excuse to skip this place because its so near SM and the manokan country.
  • Since I was employed at LBP in Bacolod City in 1993, I used to attend masses here in San Sebastian Cathedral because of its proximity to my boarding house and my office. The priests' homilies were actual situations in our ever changing society, family and community. I admired the Church teachings here. Now, that I'm a retired employee, I go back to my hometown in Kalibo. But everytime I would go to Bacolod City, I always visit the Cathedral because everything flashes back. Since I was young then and living alone in a city, this Cathedral served as a haven for me.
