From the square, visit the small local community cathedral dating back to the late 18th century, a museum, and several alfresco cafes. Several handicraft vendors selling souvenirs and textiles populate the square every day, as well as local people walking llamas and alpacas around for photo opportunities. Take your camera along, as you'll have stunning views of the nearby mountain vista from the square. • It is really the only thing to see, but is worthwhile and curiously there are hung many mirrors. One view in the village is the sale of handicraft. Vests and hats of women are spectacular.

  • At the Centre of the small town of Chivay lies this nice and clean square. In the middle there is a fountain and the beautiful Cathedral in colonial style. Often there are street vendors and they do have photos with alpaca and birds to tourists in Exchange for pennies

  • Each morning at about 6.30am local children put on local costume and dance around the square to welcome all the visitors to the area. There is lovely church which is well worth a visit.
  • Place of village life, where take place including the holidays. In the direction of Chivay combis depart from this place. At the bottom of the square lies the small Felipa restaurant, the Coporquenita, where it is possible to eat a good meal for 6 soles.
