Catedral de Tacna, Tacna

Categories: Churches, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.3/5 based on 300+ reviews on the web
Admire the impressive facade of Catedral de Tacna, located in the center of Tacna. Construction of the cathedral began in 1875 by the firm of famous French architect and engineer Alexandre Gustave Eiffel, but was postponed in 1879 due to the outbreak of the War of the Pacific. Officially completed in 1954, the cathedral displays a neo-renaissance architectural style, with a tower either side of the grand entrance and many ornamental features on the main facade. Made using stones quarried from nearby hills, the building complements its surroundings, balancing a bold European style with local materials and colors. • It is a cathedral large for the size of the city, but nothing too special. Perhaps the most beautiful is to see the celebration of the mass by the religious fervor
