(4.4/5 based on 900+ reviews on the web)
Take a tour of Lake Titicaca, the world-famous lake along the border of Peru and Bolivia. Consider renting a boat and hiring a guide to take you around. Not only will you explore along the water's edge and the local villages there, but you'll also visit the lake's floating reed islands, maintained and inhabited by locals. You can swim here, but expect cold waters in the highest navigable lake in the world. Plan to see Lake Titicaca and other attractions that appeal to you using our Puno vacation planner.

  • It is unavoidable to visit him, ride on boats and meet its people, how they live and customs, intense traffic port

  • We are 3812 meters of altitude, where the effort required to move is greater for those who inhabit lands more plain. 8300 square km, 190 km in length by approximately 70 kmts of width and in some places more than 250 meters deep. Majestic view of the mirror of water surrounded by mountains. Transparent water. an infinite number of passenger boats moored in the port of Puno, within walking distance of the Centre, and the prepared to leave in the morning offered a trip to the floating islands of the Uros and other llamadaTaquile. The first part of the visit to one of the settlements of ethnic uru, introduces us to his history and mode of "floating islands" through the explanation of the guide in principle, and the Chief of the same later. We invite you to see inside their shelters, and upon payment, then a stroll between the Cattail communities in a boat rebuilt as primitives. In the end they offer their crafts. From there, then in about an hour, up to Taquile Island, a rocky place that runs a foot trails of smooth material, medium complexity in terms of slopes to climb (the excursions proposed a steep stretch that can be ignored). It is a place which seems stopped in time, environment, mountain, Lake, is of infinite beauty. In terms of the importance of the place, just remember that since 2005, the textile art of it was declared a "Masterpiece of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity" by Unesco. This due to the fact that clothes that people use are usually preserved pre-Columbian traits both in quality, design and symbolism. We were offered a lunch (included in the price except drink) native with fixed menu (there are some variant) based on fish from the Lake. To note: there are two alternatives to time of the tour, speedboat or common. The first say that lasts two hours less, but what I have noticed is that it leaves more early. Other: over than floating island is going to visit, depends on the operator, there is no a single option. Finally, the possibility of booking the trip at hotel lowers the likelihood of unpleasant surprises in the required provision. In our case, we hire in Tierra Viva Hotel and we had a guiaa of luxury: Elisha.

  • Lake Titicaca is the reason to travel in this area and it has a lot to offer. We found Uros interesting, but overcrowded with tourists. Taquile Island much quieter and great for beautiful walks.
