Catedral de Chucuito, Puno
Categories: Ruins, Historic Sites, Tourist Spots
Step into a simpler time at the small town of Catedral de Chucuito. Walk the streets to see the ruins and walls dating back to the 16th century, and drop by Latin America's only fertility temple. Though some question the authenticity of the temple, the structure stands in stunning contrast to the town's small colonial church, which dates back to before Peruvian independence. If you like the outdoors, head to the surrounding hills for easy, fun trekking. Make Catedral de Chucuito a part of your Puno vacation plans using our Puno holiday planner.

In a beautiful, picturesque village, with the ingredients for a nice ride: gazebo overlooking the Lake, square, Cathedral, Church, Temple of fertility, and a not-very-long walk to a higher part of the village with a panoramic view. To stay awhile at the square, looking at its people. We went to lunch at Don Juan, opposite the Church, a beautiful place where broke us a dish for vegetarians.show original
