Lago Sandoval, Puerto Maldonado

(4.7/5 based on 400+ reviews on the web)
Trek around Lago Sandoval, surrounded by thick rainforest and offering access to one of the most popular hiking routes in the area. Take the trail from the dock and keep your eyes peeled for caimans, a huge variety of birds, monkeys, turtles, and the endangered river otter. You can also take a boat out onto the lake to see the forest attractively curled around the large expanse of water, with tree reflections in the mirror-like surface making for excellent photographs. • Beautiful place, very quiet, no tourists, nice wildlife. A great place to unwind from Cusco and Machu Picchu. Bring your insect repellent and sunblock and enjoy the views and the tranquillity!
  • Was an Odyssey to reach the Lake because the road was lush with puddles of water and mud by almost all the way, in the jungle always raining above all in January, February, walk is approx. 01 hours, but along the way are many animals, birds, monkeys, butterflies of all colors, huge ants, alligators, etc.., then in a rowing boat is known all over the Lake and the view is wonderful cover, there are otters, birds of different colors, aquatic plants. The places most wonderful are always away, and when you get to the place, you stay so impressed that you'd come back to walk many times as needed to get to know places like this, that nature has given to our beloved Peru.
