Reserva Natural Marasha, Puerto Alegria

4.8
#4 of 19 in Wildlife in Loreto Region
At Reserva Natural Marasha, hike through Amazon forest among huge trees, while exploring the diversity of wildlife, such as multicolored parrots and capybaras. Go sport fishing for piranha, take a ride in a kayak, or do some alligator spotting. Other safe and well-organized activities include a canopy zipline, swimming and canoeing in the picture-postcard lake, and guided walks through the jungle. The reserve gets its name from a small, spiny palm that grows around the lake. Relax in clean and comfortable wooden cabins (equipped with nets that keep out mosquitoes and other insects), and listen to the sounds of the jungle. For travelers who use our international travel planner, Puerto Alegria holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Reserva Natural Marasha and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • When we decided to make the Trek by Marasha reserve, never imagine to find a nice place... We walked almost 3 hours to get to the... and find a clean, quiet place with a meal, and a landscape that makes you want to stay several days and enjoy the peace that offers the place... There are some cabins super well organized, very clean restrooms, on this site you relax so much time passes too fast...... I love... we did fishing and take a delicious NAP in their hammocks... near the Lake...

  • A beautiful place with great charm. Surrounded by forest and nature in a huge and beautiful Lake, where several activities such as kayaking and fishing, where these facilities are located. During the dry months when the forest is not flooded, there 1 hour (approx.) walk through the jungle to reach the reserve. The road is in good condition and you can see monkeys in the trees and three-toed sloth, as well as a variety of birds and tropical plants. Facilities clean and cozy, surrounded by nature and animals; tropical birds; macaws and crane who come, and fish; Pirarucus that can be fed and Piranha fishing... The food is delicious and varied. Ideal for families; children can learn the mysteries of the jungle without going through the bad drinks sitting in the middle of nature and with all the amenities offered by this book. Highly recommended!

  • At first was unsure what to do when we got here. A beautiful lake encircled by massive Cebu trees and full of tiny piranha. Ask your guide and you might be able to fish for them with chicken skin from the cocina. Take the opportunity to kayak the lake and maybe sit in the hammock for a couple minutes. Beautiful.
  • OK...
  • A magical place without a doubt. Highly recommended. At night, the Moon is reflected in the Lake facing rooms. We left overnight in a canoe on the Lake and we were able to have an alligator in the hands. The guide that we attended knew the jungle and local people. Even took us to see pink dolphins the day we came back.
