Playa Roja, Paracas
(4.2/5 based on 190+ reviews on the web)
Admire the dramatic contrast of colors on display at Playa Roja, a beach with deep reddish-hued sand, azure waters, and yellow and ochre cliffs. The sand gets its fiery hue from a type of igneous rock known as pink granodiorite, which contains solidified magma. The best and most convenient way of seeing this beach is with an organized tour, as the surrounding national park is too large to explore without guidance and proper vehicles. • This is a red sand beach. First I've been to and there probably aren't a huge amount about. The red sand is caused by an ancient volcano below the sea. Cool to see.
  • It is within the paracas reserve, included in the tour, it is not suitable for swimming because the sea is bravo but if you can take beautiful pictures, there is a part where carefully you can get to the beach.

  • The view of the sea from here is gorgeous, as well as the beach which is particularly different by its red pebbles that compose it, but the visit is diminish with the view of dead animals which touched me to see, that were several. The view of the fishing boats so close and these deaths take the value of protected area as a tourist one expects to find.
