  • From the town of Ollantaytambo, we hired an arriero (Sr Mario), that took us along a path of approx 5 km with a slope that starts at 2750 m 2 blocks from the square of Ollantaytambo and sing it this to little more than 3200 meters above sea level that we did at approximately 1:30 hrs this is the granite quarry where stones used in the complex of Ollantaytambo in the slope of the front is extajo. Surprising the size of stones abandoned on the road and how they could carry them, because of their weight.

  • Coming out of Ollantaytambo and crossing the bridge of the Inca the road is divided... to the left and to some 2 kms. the beautiful ruins of Chocana (visit them is free) and clockwise it starts a nice and extensive way to the circuit of quarries Cachicata... ideal for the lovers of the trekking (like me)... one begins to rise and the view of ruins and Ollanta is very cute... I'm not sure but I think that the total of the circuit are about 7-8 km. Recommended if you have a few free hours...
