  • We were stuck in Ollantaytambo for several days because of a rail strike in the July 2017, have recovered us but there good. The Temple system is really fascinating.

  • We got to the archaeological site early before the buses arrived. Amazing vistas and a great hike. We took the long way around and truly enjoyed the visit.  more »
  • Who goes to Cusco should visit, in addition to Machu Picchu, the incredible fortress of Ollantaytambo. The location marks the last stand of the Incas before the bloody invasion of the Spanish in the Sacred Valley. Upon arriving at the site, the visitor is already impressed with your structure, carved in the face of a rocky elevation. Climb your stairs reveals your complex architecture in stone, forming terraces and other functional structures. The ascent is breathtaking as it allows for an impressive view of the Valley and the small town of Ollantaytambo, which preserves streets and houses built by the incas and which is still occupied by his descendants.

  • Very well kept sanctuary. The guide spoke good English. The sanctuary is neat and clean in a beautiful setting. Has a fresh water stream running through it. All the animals and birds are rescues. When we visited in Dec 2018 we saw, puma, wild cats, condors, lama, alpacas, guinea pig, a spectacled bear, tortoises, and vicuna. There were also a couple of parrots that were wild but showed up to eat everyday. They charge a small entry fee.
  • Of all the sacred valley locations I would say that this was our favorite. It was drizzling a little but it didn't ruin our time. The location at the bottom of the valley makes the mountains even more majestic. Wear shoes with a good grip as the rocks can be slippery.
  • A must if you are in the area. Ollantaytambo is a lovely, quiet little town with great food and wonderful atmosphere, so think about spending a night here on your travels! The historical site itself is amazing - the steps up to the main site are feasible for most ages...if you’re thinking of a more challenging day, take the red route up the mountain to Inka Watana and enjoy the spectacular views of the site and encompassing mountains. Overall a great way to spend a few hours of the day, and appreciate the history and culture of this incredible site.
  • This is a wonderful archaeological site in the Sacred Valley. It has an amazing architechture, history, and landscapes that it is a must once you're in Cusco.
  • Second most amazing place in Peru to visit. It's ruins and Inka's structures take your breath. Cozy town with stoned streets.
