  • You might want a day or 2 to get used to the altitude before climbing all these stairs. The climb is worth it though. No signage so probably better to do with a guide
  • The last stop of the day Ollanta is one of the most visited regions in Valle sagrado by tourists who follow path to Machu Picchu. If you want to visit the ruins with quieter, the tip is to sleep a night on the town. And in the morning you go to visit. The complex of ruins of Ollantaytambo is great and you will find several features of the Inca culture, large irrigation systems, a temple of Coronation and a large area for worship and astronomical observation. Have a beautiful view and a lot of history.

  • What a lovely small town! Surrounded by fields growing in terraces created by the Incas or earlier peoples. The ruins here are considered better in some ways than Machu Picchu. It certainly is a good place to stay on your way to the more famous ruins.
  • Beautiful place to visit. These were the best ruins outside of the hike on our tour, and they definitely were a sight to behold. Being able to begin hearing about the architecture and culture was a great starting off point before we got into the hike. Definitely got me pumped for more.
  • Nice place if you visit it before Machu Pichu.
  • #1 macchu picchu #2 ollantaytambo #3 cusco Thats how i would rate peru
  • A day trip/overnight stay at Ollantaytambo city and ruins must be part of any Inca Trail and Machu Picchu itinerary.
