Cantalloc Aqueduct, Nazca

4.3
#2 of 6 in Historic Sites in Ica Region
Ruin Tourist Spot
Cantalloc Aqueduct, an engineering marvel built by the Nazca civilization, remains in operation even today. The mysterious Nazca people were known only for their skillfully designed artifacts and geoglyphs, which makes this attraction a key to understanding their history and heritage. Carrying water from the mountain springs to the dry desert, the spiral subterranean aqueducts formed an impressive irrigation system, most of which still functions. Observe the helix-shaped structures and the stone work that remains from ancient times, or walk down to the bottom of an aqueduct, filled with clear drinkable water. Using our world travel planner, Nazca attractions like Cantalloc Aqueduct can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • We arrived in the afternoon in Nazca and still had some time left. We are a tip this n.a.v. Wells. Very nice to see and there are many. You have not much time. After to have walked around a bit, we left after about an hour. With the same ticket, we also visited the ruin near. Also here an hour walked around and that was enough. The ruin in the afternoon was very beautiful!
