Pacaya Samiria, Loreto Region
(4.7/5 based on 190+ reviews on the web)
Explore the untamed nature of the second-largest reserve in the basin at Pacaya Samiria. Home to over 1,000 animal and plant species, the reserve preserves the natural ecosystem while allowing for the development of nearby villages. Visitors typically join a tour operator to learn about the area and its animal and plant life through first-hand experience trekking and boating through the rainforest. Several endangered and exotic species call the reserve home, including the spider monkey, pink dolphin, and giant river otter. While here, consider visiting one of the villages to learn about the locals' fishing, farming, hunting, and scavenging responsibilities. Use our Nauta vacation route planner to add Pacaya Samiria and other attractions to your Nauta vacation plans.
