Where to stay in Lima

One of Peru's most expensive destinations, Lima offers accommodations that range from modern hotel high-rises to family-run guesthouses. Most visitors stay in Barranco, Miraflores, or San Isidro, three of the city's safest and prettiest neighborhoods, which offer a good selection of budget lodgings. For something truly authentic, look for hotels located in restored mansions, many of which offer pleasant rooms overlooking manicured enclosed gardens, ideal for enjoying romantic meals or hosting small private parties.

  • Chosica is old, neglected, disorganized, loud. Its main attraction is the Central Park where weekend stands a fair where they sell food, crafts and there is a mini amusement park.

  • Almost every weekend I am going there, is very close to Lima, and although not archaeological site or anything like that, gives the opportunity to get out of the rut, go to a club, swim in the pool, take advantage of Sun there every day, eat a dish or a pachamanca and spend a good day.
