Presidential Palace (Palacio de Gobierno), Lima

(600 reviews on the web)
Government Building Architectural Building
One of the country's most important governmental buildings, Presidential Palace (Palacio de Gobierno) serves as the official residence of the president. The current building was completed in 1937 in an elegant, stately Neo-Baroque style, though different forms of governmental offices have stood here since 1535. The guards standing at attention and the iconic wrought iron fence neatly complement the grandeur and seriousness of this major landmark. • The palace is just one of many sights in the plaza. Entrance is restricted, but one can see the building from the outside. There was a parade practice while we were there which was an added bonus.  more »
