Presidential Palace (Palacio de Gobierno), Lima
(4.1/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
One of the country's most important governmental buildings, Presidential Palace (Palacio de Gobierno) serves as the official residence of the president. The current building was completed in 1937 in an elegant, stately Neo-Baroque style, though different forms of governmental offices have stood here since 1535. The guards standing at attention and the iconic wrought iron fence neatly complement the grandeur and seriousness of this major landmark. • The Government Palace of Lima is located in the historic centre of the city, in the Plaza de Armas. It is the place of residence of the President of the Republic. The Government Palace is notable for its architecture and decoration. A part of the Palace is open to the public Monday to Saturday visit prior appointment. Every day at 12 o'clock of the day is given the traditional ceremony of the changing of the guard by the Cavalry "Marshal Domingo Nieto" which are the presidential guards. Quite a show.

  • Although the building has a beautiful building as more attractive is to see change of guardis that takes place daily at 11 pm (if I remember correctly) with a great display of chivalry, music and traditional dances. A show imperdiblee that you can see comfortably stands assembled ad hoc on the square in front of the Government House

  • This is the President's House is on the opposite side of the Plaza de Armas. There were many guards. Or rather marching music and watched a parade.
