The centerpiece of the World Heritage-listed city center, Plaza San Martin boasts monumental architecture and a central monument erected in honor of national hero Jose de San Martin. Designed to commemorate a century of Peruvian independence, the plaza features nicely presented gardens linking up various monuments with San Martin's central statue. The Baroque look of the surrounding buildings is in keeping with the Neocolonial style of the plaza itself, with grand structures cornering off the public space. • It is located a few blocks from the plaza de armas, so if you got time is a nice place to hang out, surrounded by many old buildings. It has a statue of José de San Martín in the Center.

  • When you stand in this place, like you forget that you are in Lima, why it could be any place of any city in Europe, the buildings of the surroundings are beautiful and very manicured, in the Centre, a beautiful garden, clean and quiet, it is worth here

  • Beautiful, crowded, feel insecure. Worth visit but I didn't feel comfortable for taking pictures.
  • The place is very beautiful! but you should be prepared! people are poor educated in the streets and in cars, too unsafe to walk the streets.
  • Very well kept and beautiful square surrounded by great architecture. Plenty of benches and places to sit and catch some shade. Worth a visit
  • Beautiful square ticked away just past the most dense collection of the City's churches. Sit down and rest your feet while you take in the view
  • Loveliest part of the historic center of Lima
