Parque Zoologico Huachipa, Lima

2.8
#8 of 16 in Zoos & Aquariums in Peru
Parque Zoologico Huachipa takes a more hand-on and close-up approach to animal observation. Explore the zoo's petting workshops for sheep, camels, and vicunas, and enjoy close interaction with a variety of big cats--including the increasingly rare white tiger--separated by reinforced glass. Pay special attention to the extensive and informative aviary and section dedicated to the Amazon rainforest. Because of the zoo's location a fair distance from most touristy spots, consider taking a taxi here, unless you're familiar with the area. • I'm very sorry that the Park is so careless. The gardens, animals, bathrooms, facilities, everything looks neglected. I remember having gone a few years ago and was something else. Not worth a go until they improve it.

  • A good choice in winter to enjoy the Sun. In huachipa is no sunshine and this makes entertaining visit to the Zoo. Important to use sunscreen and hats and not necessary carry food in restaurants are very spacious.

  • A normal Park, which lacks much to improve, the animals are not in good condition, and the baths is the worst. It is impossible to be able to move to a baby, it was disgusting

  • Nice zoo in lima...se the white tiger born inside
  • They need to take care of the animals in there they also need cleaner bathrooms but after all it's a good place for kids the animals are great only animals that you will see in PERU
  • A family friendly zoo with a various species of animals. There are some really cool animals which are seen only in PERU. The zoo is over crowded with people during holidays. I am not happy with animal enclosures, because they are quite small for the animals. The zoo needs more attention about cleanliness, animal care. The zoo needs some improvements in many areas. I enjoyed the conceptual exhibits in the zoo. overall It's a good place to spend your time with kids and family.

Where to stay in Lima

One of Peru's most expensive destinations, Lima offers accommodations that range from modern hotel high-rises to family-run guesthouses. Most visitors stay in Barranco, Miraflores, or San Isidro, three of the city's safest and prettiest neighborhoods, which offer a good selection of budget lodgings. For something truly authentic, look for hotels located in restored mansions, many of which offer pleasant rooms overlooking manicured enclosed gardens, ideal for enjoying romantic meals or hosting small private parties.
