Parque El Olivar, Lima

Outdoor Activity
Admire the olive grove and the avian life at Parque El Olivar, a lush oasis in the heart of Lima. The park contains over 1,500 olive trees that still bear fruit, some of them dating from 1560 when Antonio de Rivera brought the first olives from Seville. Reserve a guided tour to learn about the history of the grove, or just take a relaxing walk among the trees and ponds. In addition to its picnic and exercise space, the park is also a haven for birdwatchers. You can spot over thirty species here--plaques distributed around the grounds display information and pictures of the birds. It couldn't be easier to arrange your visit to Parque El Olivar and many more Lima attractions: make an itinerary online using Inspirock's Lima trip itinerary maker.

Where to stay in Lima

One of Peru's most expensive destinations, Lima offers accommodations that range from modern hotel high-rises to family-run guesthouses. Most visitors stay in Barranco, Miraflores, or San Isidro, three of the city's safest and prettiest neighborhoods, which offer a good selection of budget lodgings. For something truly authentic, look for hotels located in restored mansions, many of which offer pleasant rooms overlooking manicured enclosed gardens, ideal for enjoying romantic meals or hosting small private parties.

  • The park is really beautiful. Trees are inspiring. Little ponds around. Very secure as full of police. Good for a very short circuit run as a 1km circuit. Nice houses all around.  more »
  • Took a romantic walk with my husband on an Sunday evening through the park. It's well maintained and it was lovely to see all of the locals taking an evening stroll with their kids, dogs, and families...  more »
  • This is such a beautiful park, away from the hustle and bustle of Lima, located in a mostly affluent residential area. Most of the olive trees found here are over 400 years old! It is a very nice spot...  more »
