Parque El Olivar, Lima

4.7
#5 of 25 in Parks in Lima
Admire the olive grove and the avian life at Parque El Olivar, a lush oasis in the heart of Lima. The park contains over 1,500 olive trees that still bear fruit, some of them dating from 1560 when Antonio de Rivera brought the first olives from Seville. Reserve a guided tour to learn about the history of the grove, or just take a relaxing walk among the trees and ponds. In addition to its picnic and exercise space, the park is also a haven for birdwatchers. You can spot over thirty species here--plaques distributed around the grounds display information and pictures of the birds. • It is perhaps one of the parks with the olive trees most long-lived of Lima, once refuge of the upper class of San Isidro, now only keeps memories and thanks to the municipality premises, houses and forest are preserved with the same splendour of many years ago in recent years is has with poured into the point for session photo of bride and groom and quinceaneras

  • Green Green enough Lung San isidro. Has an impressive amount of olive trees that are over 400 years old, in a landscaped area well lit with rock pools, mirrors d ´ water, jogging trails, gazebos and children's games

  • It is a place that for more than 30 years is maintained even with the charm of the forest. There is a gap that could be better, but try to maintain as it is public and there are a lot of people who visit. In this ample green space, make lots of pictures so it will not be rare see many couples wedding, quinceaneras, children, and other in full photographic activity. There is a theatre nearby, where there is a beautiful and interesting works I recommend them for children. It is a beautiful place to stroll.

Where to stay in Lima

One of Peru's most expensive destinations, Lima offers accommodations that range from modern hotel high-rises to family-run guesthouses. Most visitors stay in Barranco, Miraflores, or San Isidro, three of the city's safest and prettiest neighborhoods, which offer a good selection of budget lodgings. For something truly authentic, look for hotels located in restored mansions, many of which offer pleasant rooms overlooking manicured enclosed gardens, ideal for enjoying romantic meals or hosting small private parties.
