Palacio Municipal de Lima, Lima
(3.9/5 based on 55+ reviews on the web)
Boasting a distinctly elegant and colonial style, Palacio Municipal de Lima draws visitors with its bright yellow color. This public building serves as the headquarters for the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima and has its origins as early as 1549. The building was constructed by a myriad of different architects over a period of many decades to house the two mayors of the viceroyalty. Look for the building's ornate arches and ornate balconies. The palace, surrounded by palm trees, sits in the middle of a large city square, where it's not uncommon to encounter live music. • The Municipal Palace of Lima is located in the historic centre of Lima in the plaza de Armas. As well as surrounding buildings such as the Cathedral and Archbishop's Palace have you modifications and renewals by earthquakes that plague the area. The current structure was built between 1943 and 1944 - during the Government of Marshal Oscar R. Benavides. The facade if something stands out are her towards the plaza de Armas and the unmistakable yellow wooden balconies.

  • The building of the Town Hall colonial was simple and the history of its construction has been rugged. The master Diego de Torres was in charge of raising the first building of the Cabildo of Lima and in 1549 rapidly began the work, next to two black slaves purchased especially to reinforce their work, because it was completed before the arrival of Antonio de Mendoza y Pacheco, second viceroy of the Peru, was scheduled for September 23, 1551. Of the chapter houses built by master Diego de Torres were made with brickmould and altos de wood to use in Spain.
