Museo Pedro de Osma, Lima

4.6
#7 of 32 in Museums in Lima
Admire a small but memorable collection of colonial-era art at Museo Pedro de Osma, occupying a century-old mansion. The museum artfully displays its works through a series of grand rooms, with Peruvian paintings, furniture, sculpture, and jewelry taking top billing. Many of the paintings use the city as their setting, allowing you to see the changes that occurred in the urban area during and after the colonial era. • Motivated by an attraction in Barranco, we went in search of the cusquenian art to this private museum managed by the Fundación Osma Gildemeister, but we realized with the unpleasant surprise that is closed for maintenance until mid-February 2018, we will return!

  • You can not fail to visit. free, guided visit is excellent and almost indispensable to assess and understand the exposed art. The House, as a witness of an era, is also a beauty. I strongly recommend visiting this museum.

  • A great museum with patios! Worth to visit. If you also plan to visit MATE or MAC, they sell a combined ticket.
  • What a great museum . To be honest is a must to visit it and worth it.
  • We literally ran through this one as we had 15 minutes before closing. Should have done this one first then the MATE. Whatever I laid eyes on was worth a lot more time than I could give it. The museum is surprisingly largish inside.
  • Lovely building, with great artwork. The silver hall has some amazing things
  • Beautiful museum

Where to stay in Lima

One of Peru's most expensive destinations, Lima offers accommodations that range from modern hotel high-rises to family-run guesthouses. Most visitors stay in Barranco, Miraflores, or San Isidro, three of the city's safest and prettiest neighborhoods, which offer a good selection of budget lodgings. For something truly authentic, look for hotels located in restored mansions, many of which offer pleasant rooms overlooking manicured enclosed gardens, ideal for enjoying romantic meals or hosting small private parties.
