  • We have been in the convent of San Francisco after visiting Plaza de Armas. It is just a few minutes walk from the main square. The Church itself is very nice but the best part are the famous catacombs. After doing the ticket (10 g guide included), expects to form a small group of people and we start the tour with a guide (in English or Spanish). The Church is very well preserved, visiting the library, the cloister and the various rooms, the atmosphere is sacred and spiritual. Descend into the catacombs and seems to be protagonists of a documentary! Very nice to see!

  • It is a place full of history that is worth a visit. Tours are guided and assigned us a guide that motivated us in every stage of the tour and answered all the questions. We are left with the penalty not to take photographs in the library that impressed us very much.

  • Tour guided very cheap and good. They are the catacombs which was what most struck me, also secrets of history and ancient books libraries. At the entrance of the Church make a beautiful caporales show also. You have to be very careful with types that are cleaning shoes and not tell you the price, always say that not.

  • Really nice place. 40 min tour through the many churchbuildings, really nice and historical. The catacombes were also nice, not too big but interesting. Guide was a bit in a hurry :) interesting tour nevertheless and good value for money
  • Very interesting tour, takes you through the belly if the church. Well worth a visit!
  • Really cool to see a museum of this sort in Lima. They take you underground and explain the history of the museum as well as show you some old historical graveyards/bones. It really is amazing how the people of the past did things and the rich culture inside this museum.
  • A beautiful site to see. The woodwork, tilework, and paintings that date back to the 1600's are still gorgeous to look at. The catacombs are impressive and a bit sobering as well. Watch your head in the catacombs if you are taller.... No pictures allowed as well.
  • Definitely worth seeing. The well that was designed for seismic shock absorption is pretty awesome...the skull arrangement is quite sight.

Where to stay in Lima

One of Peru's most expensive destinations, Lima offers accommodations that range from modern hotel high-rises to family-run guesthouses. Most visitors stay in Barranco, Miraflores, or San Isidro, three of the city's safest and prettiest neighborhoods, which offer a good selection of budget lodgings. For something truly authentic, look for hotels located in restored mansions, many of which offer pleasant rooms overlooking manicured enclosed gardens, ideal for enjoying romantic meals or hosting small private parties.
