Where to stay in Lima

One of Peru's most expensive destinations, Lima offers accommodations that range from modern hotel high-rises to family-run guesthouses. Most visitors stay in Barranco, Miraflores, or San Isidro, three of the city's safest and prettiest neighborhoods, which offer a good selection of budget lodgings. For something truly authentic, look for hotels located in restored mansions, many of which offer pleasant rooms overlooking manicured enclosed gardens, ideal for enjoying romantic meals or hosting small private parties.

  • Located in the square of France, a little away from the Plaza de Armas, is worth a visit. Blue and charming architecture, is very different from most churches of Lima. Worth the visit!!

  • A beautiful church in a nice square. Obviously the thing to emphasize is the weird "azul" that is painted. Even the surrounding area, in my opinion, is the best in the town. Colorful colonial houses, outside the super-touristy, with small shops selling second-hand dealer selling, mostly, old books and prints. To be revalued.
