Ruin Historic Site
In stark contrast to the skyscrapers and modern infrastructure surrounding it, the steep stones of Huaca Pucllana boast more than 1,000 years of history. The adobe pyramid, standing in what is now the center of Peru's capital, was built by before 700 CE by the pre-Inca people known as the Lima. Constructed from seven rising platforms, the pyramid served as a power base for elite clergymen, from which they controlled the affairs of society. Gaze upon the pyramid and imagine the mystical ceremonies that were conducted in this holy place more than a thousand years ago. • This site is the first place on my list of "must-sees" in Lima! The juxtaposition of ancient ways in the center of the modern world is fascinating! They have done, and are still doing, a great job of excavating this site. There are other similar areas in Lima, but none are as well-done as Huaca Pucllana. The tours offered in English and in Spanish are good, and I did not have to wait. My guide was very knowledgeable.
  • Very interesting and definitely worth a visit. You can only visit by tour. A guide will show you the area for about 40-50minutes.
  • Historical place going back to 200 AD. The restaurant adjoining the archaeological site serves some of the best Peruvian food. The traditional cerviche is amazing
  • I wished I had read the review before going to this site. Since I am in Lima with local, I did not bother researching, which resulted in rather disappointing experience. When you walk in, you have to wait for a guide. You cannot roam alone. We were told the next tour will start in 20 min later when we entered the site. We waited close to 30 min when the tour started. I asked if there is an English tour, and the response was 20 min later. I wish there was a set time so we did not have to sit and wait doing nothing. I decided to take the Spanish tour with my limited Spanish. I read this place up in Wiki and a few other websites night before. It is a cool place and had a great view on the top. I could not understand the majority of things guide said, and I was roaming alone among the groups. When the tour was done, there were about 5 guides sitting around there and doing nothing. I was thinking where were they before? Maybe night tour is much more popular, and all of them were gearing towards the night tour. Overall, I was disappointed at the experience.
  • Cool place overlooking some ancient ruins. Great place for a cocktail, quiet with great ambiance and awesome view.
