El Parque del Amor, Lima

4.2
#2 of 25 in Parks in Lima
You don't have to be on a romantic trip to appreciate El Parque del Amor (though it may help). The park features a robust statue depicting a pair of lovers engaged in a passionate embrace, unveiled in 1993. More specifically, the couple represents the sculptor, Victor Delfín, and his wife. Behind it, the blue Pacific stretches out to the horizon. After admiring the park's impeccably maintained gardens--and taking the obligatory photo in front of the statue--pop down to the adjoining beach for a refreshing dip. • A nice place to watch the sunset in miraflores. Weekend tends to be crowded and take pictures of the place without people can be difficult but it is worth a ride out there.

  • We were strolling through the Miraflores district and suddenly we saw a large statue of 2 bodies deitados...rs several couples taking pictures. There's plenty of flowers in this park that is open and right on the edge of the Pacific Ocean. No big deal, but I expected more.

  • El Parque del Amor is a really lovely little park along the water. The art is nice to look at - statue, mosaics, lovers locks - and a good way to spend some time while in Lima. I would not, however, g...  more »

  • Good location overlooking the waters in the upscale Miraflores neighborhood of Lima. Very touristy but I saw quite a few young local couples celebrating love. The park had the Longest Kiss stage. Makes for a nice evening or late afternoon stroll.
  • Great little oceanside park, overlooking the Pacific from 200 ft high cliffs. Centerpiece is a sculpture of a couple engaging in a passionate kiss (photo). Long sinuous park benches are adorned with words and phrases of love; very colorful. You can look down and watch surfers catch waves. Better yet, sight over to the adjacent cliff and watch paragliders take off over the precipice. Food is available as are public restrooms.
  • Iconic sculpture by Delfin of himself and his love at the time or representing all the women a man has loved. Beautiful site for looking at the Pacific, people and a recognized place to meet-up with a friend
  • Won't argue about the artistic value of the sculpture but it is an excellent viewing point to the ocean and coastal line with easy access to the beach below.
  • One of the most known touristic place to visit in Lima. Either you like or not the sculpture it's a symbolic place to see

Where to stay in Lima

One of Peru's most expensive destinations, Lima offers accommodations that range from modern hotel high-rises to family-run guesthouses. Most visitors stay in Barranco, Miraflores, or San Isidro, three of the city's safest and prettiest neighborhoods, which offer a good selection of budget lodgings. For something truly authentic, look for hotels located in restored mansions, many of which offer pleasant rooms overlooking manicured enclosed gardens, ideal for enjoying romantic meals or hosting small private parties.
