Church and Sanctuary of Saint Rose of Lima, Lima

4.2
Saint Rosa serves as the primary patroness of Peru and of the indigenous peoples of Latin America, making Church and Sanctuary of Saint Rose of Lima an important stop to learn more of the country’s religious history. The red-and-white church is built on the spot where Saint Rosa was born and the home that she turned into a hospital for the poor. She earned sainthood by dedicating her life to helping the needy and sick--you'll see the statue of this remarkable woman standing outside. Visit this grand church to learn more about her life and legacy; enter to admire the manicured gardens and make a wish in the wishing well. • You can't go from Lima without visiting the Church of Nuestra Señora de Lima Santa Rosa. I had a Sunday with procession of the Virgin, and toured this beautiful church, in perfect state of conservation. A wonder his altarpieces and altars.

  • I do not visit this place during all my travels to Lima. It is a very special, peaceful place and is perfect to be able to meditate or pray. It has a very special feature which is to write a letter to Santa Rosita de Lima with your requests or whatever you want to share and then are pulled into his pit. The place has parking in front of the Church which makes it very easy to visit.

Where to stay in Lima

One of Peru's most expensive destinations, Lima offers accommodations that range from modern hotel high-rises to family-run guesthouses. Most visitors stay in Barranco, Miraflores, or San Isidro, three of the city's safest and prettiest neighborhoods, which offer a good selection of budget lodgings. For something truly authentic, look for hotels located in restored mansions, many of which offer pleasant rooms overlooking manicured enclosed gardens, ideal for enjoying romantic meals or hosting small private parties.
