We have not been this point of view and maybe that indeed we took. We wanted to do a Sunday afternoon (early July), but the grey weather was not motivated us. On returning to the hotel, we learn that a minibus returning to Lima and bringing tourists from this Hill turned in a turn, record 9 dead... Better brief might go by taxi.

The drivers are very unwise to climb the Hill, it is as if they were to know memory curves and do not measure the speed. When you reach the top, however it is possible to see much of Lima. We take the excursion in the vicinity of the Plaza de Armas.

It is not only unsafe by crime (they stole the camera of my spouse and we were inside the bus) in the streets of the Hill, but also for the way in which we are transported. Drivers that handle recklessly, leading down the Hill in a hurry... very dangerous... not recommend to visit.

Where to stay in Lima

One of Peru's most expensive destinations, Lima offers accommodations that range from modern hotel high-rises to family-run guesthouses. Most visitors stay in Barranco, Miraflores, or San Isidro, three of the city's safest and prettiest neighborhoods, which offer a good selection of budget lodgings. For something truly authentic, look for hotels located in restored mansions, many of which offer pleasant rooms overlooking manicured enclosed gardens, ideal for enjoying romantic meals or hosting small private parties.
