#5 of 9 in Things to do in Huascaran National Park
Get acquainted with Peru's snowy peaks at Pastoruri Glacier. Don't miss the chance to get an up close experience with a glacier here, as it is the only one accessible by road in the entire world. The glacier has lost over 15% of its ice mass over the past 35 years, while the planet in that time has seen ten of its hottest years on record. Despite the chilly temperature, visitors are advised to take plenty of water along with them due to the glacier being 5,250 m (17,200 ft) above sea level. • WoW, this magnificent glacier located in the Huascaran national park in the white Cordillera reward anyone who complete the trail. 5200 meters better take time to acclimate to Huaraz because many people suffer from altitude sickness. The road to get there is magnificent, breathtaking scenery and the glacier is the icing on the cake! A must!

  • Definitely, if it has been left me without air, it is a good experience. The tour I cost 40so with an agency called Atusparia Tours, the 3 days that tour I took with them was a great decision, the guides at all times were super attentive and we kept informed and entertained throughout the journey. Arriving at pastoruri, I recommend to take something to eat in the camino(de preferencia alguna fruta) bus stops at a restaurant to use the sshh, buy coca or take a mate. In my case, I bought chocolates for the rise. They are 40 min a bit heavy by hampered media breath but there is also the option to rent horses, although it is true there is no much of the snow but the experience and the view you do not no man taketh it. Eye! I also recommend dressing in layers, since there are times either on the bus or when low to the puyas of Raymondi where it's not so cold.
