Mount Huascaran represents a large national park known for its high-peaked mountain ranges and mountaineering opportunities. The park earned its World Heritage Site ranking thanks in large part to being home to Cordillera Blanca, the world’s tallest tropical mountains. This Peruvian paradise boasts 340,000 hectares (840,158 acres) to explore, and is home to a diverse range of wildlife, such as spectacled bears and Andean condors. Visitors come here to take advantage of the many trekking routes, which tend to be less busy than other spots and still home to indigenous communities. For hard-core outdoor adventurers, the mountains provide a real challenge. Rising from 3,500 m to 6,768 m (11,483 ft to 22,205 ft), the peaks are perennially snow-capped and tantalizing to experienced climbers and mountaineers.
