Lake Churup, Huascaran National Park

Categories: Bodies of Water, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.9/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web
Hike uphill for around two hours to reach Lake Churup, a scenic body of water in a remote area, surrounded by tall peaks. Less known and frequented than other lakes in the region, the route offers a good option for those wanting to get off the beaten track. Set off on the chalk path, which reaches stepp inclines in places. You'll need to scramble up one portion of the hill, using steel wires wrapped in rubber for support. Once you've reached the deep blue lake, try to frame the perfect photo with the mountains in the background. Wear suitable footwear, bring plenty of water and food, and don't attempt to walk unless you're ready for the uphill scramble section. • The only real difficulty of this hike and altitude, culminating at 4500 meters. Beautiful walk of acclimatization. Near the end, there is a steep wall where it is possible and even necessary to hold onto cables. It's worth!

  • The hike is a little long and demanding, not only by the height, but also because there is that very little climbing in some sections. Of all forms, when arrive and you see the lagoon know that it again to do so many times as outside necessary. One tip is to go with light clothing but also shelter because at times it's cold. The water of the lagoon is frost.
