Where to stay in Huaraz

The main city of the Ancash region, Huaraz boasts accommodations suitable for a great diversity of Andean explorers in Huarez. Hotels great and small are dotted through the mountain town, ranging from casual to exclusive, with some offering a host of additional amenities. Centerpiece hotels sit on the edge of the main thoroughfares and boulevards, while you'll find simple, no-frills guesthouses along the city's side streets. Low-key hotels on the city's outskirts present a welcome budget option for those ready to get out into the landscape by car.

  • Impressive on the outside and well maintained. Inside was pretty. People around the church and parishioners in the church were friendly, though the gringo almost always gets a second (evaluative) look...  more »
  • We walk to the church to see it and found a crowd gathered in the plaza in front of the church. Everyone was dressed up including some in traditional outfits. The band stared up and the dancing began....  more »
  • The church is close to hostels and hotels. Church service is attended by locals and often has live chorus. The square is a nice spot to sit and enjoy the view of the mountains.  more »

  • Easter service was beautiful! The doors are stunning.
  • It is a wonderful Church, place mandatory for any tourist who go to Huaraz. The surroundings are quiet, masses occur frequently and the environment becomes better still in the days of religious festivities. In addition, the gentleman of the solitude has a curious and compelling history for visitors to the site. There are several restaurants nearby where you can taste the classic punch and bread with ham, inevitable after a visit in the afternoon to the Church!
