4.1/5 based on 160+ reviews on the web
Bathe as the ancients did at Tambomachay, natural thermal springs flanked by rock formations and caves. A favored bathing spot for Incas, these finely carved aqueducts and stone structures were likely the subject of worship and ritual related to the Inca's reverence for water in general. The source of this refreshing spring remains undiscovered to this day. Make Tambomachay part of your personalized Cusco itinerary using our Cusco trip itinerary builder.

  • Water is life, and the Incas built careful watersystems. This is a good ruin to see first, to begin to understand the Inca attitude toward construction and their care of the water that sustained them....  read more »
  • Though not a huge site the aqueduct system was interesting to see. A total visit to the site with an explanation by the guide would take maybe half an hour.
  • Nice place. It's very relaxing and you get to enjoy a bit of the Inca life... I like to experience at least some of what life used to be like when these structures were used by the Incas.
  • The fountains at Tambomachay are still flowing after over 500 years. This stop on an important highway from the Inca period probably served as a resting place for the chasquis, the runners who served the communication needs of the nobility of that period. A short climb provides a great vantage point from which you can take an iconic photograph of the site.
  • Nice Inca site with fountains made out of natural sources. Great place to visit combined with 3 other sites. We paid 100 soles to a taxi driver driving us all afternoon and waiting for us at the gate of all sites we visited. We started here at Tambomachay, followed by Puca Pucará which is just across the street. Then we went to Q'inqu (Qenqo) and ended at Sacsaywaman.
  • inca ruins - good to visit if u enjoy history very crowded
  • Really pretty, lot of culture
  • Was a busy site, but worth it.
