Puka Pukara, Cusco
Categories: Ruins, Tourist Spots
An interesting and atmospheric historical site, Puka Pukara represents a set of Incan military ruins. Still a source of debate, the purpose of the fort was at least partially militarily minded, though an abundance of other features--including baths and plazas--point to the possibility the site contained more than just barracks and weapon stores. Admire the views of the surrounding forest from what is a well-positioned local vantage point, and admire the coloration of the rocks (the name translates as "Red Fortress") used for the walls of the main buildings. Put Puka Pukara into our Cusco trip builder and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

Nice site! Visit together with Tambomachay, Q'inqu and Sacsaywaman.
An Amazing Incan site in Peru. Very cool ruins and history at the site. These are all over Peru and each one has a story.
Cold and dark when we went but if you go in day time, much nicer
Fun little place to visit if your spending a couple days in town to explore.
