4.8/5 based on 8,000+ reviews on the web
At Centro Historico De Cusco, take a stroll through the heart of the oldest surviving city in South America. Formerly the capital of the Incan Empire, the old town still features many remnants of their extraordinary stonework. Beyond that, you'll see colonial-era houses, churches, convents, and, of course, the grand cathedral dominating a wide central plaza. As you explore, keep in mind that these Spanish constructions frequently sit atop visible Incan foundations. Restaurants and bars fill the narrow, cobblestone streets, offering everything from authentic Peruvian meals to expensive tourist traps, while shops sell cheap souvenirs, traditional handicrafts, and fine jewelry. Plenty of museums explore the history of the city through Incan, Quechua, and Spanish artifacts. • The visit to the Plaza de Armas of Cusco is mandatory. The tourism happens around her. On Sundays there are themed parades in the morning, incas are very well organized. The view of the historical buildings yields good pictures.
