Museo de sitio Huaca Rajada - Sipan, Chiclayo
Categories: Specialty Museums, Museums
Learn about the ancient cultures of Peru at Museo de sitio Huaca Rajada - Sipan, a museum displaying artifacts from the archaeological site on which it sits. Most of the artifacts on display come from the tomb of the Lord of Sipan--a warrior priest of the ancient Moche culture--and other tombs discovered in the same complex. Admire the artistry of the jewelry and ornaments, displayed in softly lit rooms, and gain a better understanding of the funeral rites of the Moche culture. Opened in 2009, the museum also offers engaging exhibits on the work done by archaeologists, explaining their techniques and aims to visitors of all ages.
