Ruin
The World Heritage-listed Archaeological Site of Chavin represents a complex containing ruins and artifacts from the ancient Chavin civilization, which thrived well over two thousand years ago. Excavated in 1919, the site is situated in the High Andes at an altitude of 3,177m (10,423 ft). See terraced temples, main square, underground galleries, and other stone structures built by an advanced pre-Incan culture. Other highlights include animalistic sculptures, megaliths, pottery, and other items exhibited at the onsite museum.   • It is a little distanced from Huaraz, but worthwhile. The story representing Chavin in Peruvian history is interesting, the archaeological site is beautiful, especially the labyrinths. the village is small and cosy, is like going in time. a place to visit necessarily in Huaraz

  • I was 17 years ago and the truth that remember you something else. It is still very beautiful and magical. However, the part of the "main" entrance is not restored, and is destroyed due to the recent earthquakes. Also, many years ago several heads were sculpted in the labyrinths, now you only find 1 to exit. In general, a wonderful experience, but should invest more in care

  • Pure unimaginable times story, little maintained and still with much to search. Go with a guide and group, otherwise it's going to be hard to access and will not understand the message that comes from millennia.
