The World Heritage-listed Archaeological Site of Chavin represents a complex containing ruins and artifacts from the ancient Chavin civilization, which thrived well over two thousand years ago. Excavated in 1919, the site is situated in the High Andes at an altitude of 3,177m (10,423 ft). See terraced temples, main square, underground galleries, and other stone structures built by an advanced pre-Incan culture.   • I feel particularly much interest by the chavin culture, then be there and see the lanzón, the cabezas clavas, square, archaeologists working quarters as mazes, was very special. I was lucky to go one day that there was almost no one, I could observe carefully what you mention, there are animals circling, lots of green, was a beautiful experience.

  • very interesting place to meet for those who like a little history of the people, as it is a pre-Inca people, and I was lucky to get an excellent guide the region that explained the history of the place in great detail, that was the big difference.
