Caverna de Quiocta, Chachapoyas

Cave
Bring a flashlight and explore Caverna de Quiocta, a system of spacious caverns filled with interesting rock formations, stalactites, and stalagmites. The caverns used to be ceremonial burial sites, so you can view ancient skulls and bones on the cave floor or in small niches in the walls. Besides a flashlight to illuminate the dark chambers, you'll need a decent pair of boots, as the cavern floors are very muddy and slippery from bat droppings. It couldn't be easier to arrange your visit to Caverna de Quiocta and many more Chachapoyas attractions: make an itinerary online using Inspirock's Chachapoyas trip itinerary builder.

  • In my opinion one of the caverns of better access and easier to appreciate in all its glory without much effort. La Casona Monsante Hotel Boutique offers you all the facilities to visit this wonder along with Karajía today including flashlights and boots.

  • Well enter out of curiosity and not really big deal since you get to a cavern of 600 metres away where there are enough mud and water and everything to see rock formations accumulated for several years. Personally, it is not something momentous, but tastes are tastes.

  • I went in January for Chachapoyas (my second trip to this beautiful place, and met Quiocta has amazing, colourful landscapes and a glorious sky.) In the cave, bats, natural rock formations can be seen. Recommend hire to a tour, in the city of Chachapoyas since for get to it cavern are approximately 30 min away of it city and must go with a guide that know the tour within the cavern because there are sites that are dangerous (but with e guide all will be well), the same tour les gives all the team necessary as boots and flashlights. They should be very light clothing that will be stained with mud, inside the cave not long ago cold.
