Windows of Otuzco, Cajamarca

(3.7/5 based on 300+ reviews on the web)
See the atmospheric carved structure of Windows of Otuzco, an ancient necropolis built and used by the people of Cajamarca. The exact date when the site was established is unknown, though some ceramics found here have been dated back to 1400 BC, with the site currently thought to have been in use for around 2000 years. The vast funerary site features neatly carved windows, cut into the volcanic rock of the hill that housed the dead. Architecturally impressive, and somewhat mystical, the site raises many questions about the Cajamarca culture. • I enjoyed discovering the history what's behind this type of burial, is a second funeral! Although it is small and becomes easy by bus that tours in Cajamarca, it is an important historical point

  • Just half an hour from the center of Cajamarca, it is an excellent choice to get out of the city. It can be reached by taxi and the cost is 20 soles approximately. Right there you can hire a guide there is very complete information posters. The tour can be done between half an hour to an hour and back cannot be a country restaurant for lunch. It is not accessible for people in wheelchairs as there is to climb a steep and rocky path.

  • It is a must-see to know these pre-Inca ruins. The landscape is wonderful. If you want to know more about the history, I recommend going with a tour guide. Facing the plaza de Armas of Cajamarca they offer tours for 20 soles including otuzco, hydrangea garden and a visit to a cheese factory.
