Visit Ransom Room to see the room in which the Incan Emperor Atahualpa was imprisoned in the 16th century. In the waning days of the Incan Empire, the emperor was captured by Spanish conquistadores led by Francisco Pizarro. While in captivity, Atahualpa offered to pay his ransom by filling the room he was held in with gold, and the two adjacent rooms with silver. Ultimately the Spanish accepted the ransom, but executed the emperor anyway. Hire a guide for the full story of the capture and ransom, as well as interesting facts about the room itself. • It is impossible to pass a Cajamarca without seeing the prison of the last Inca Emperor who will be murdered murdered by the conquistadors. The visit is very short... fleeting memory duty.

  • Guides are only in Spanish, pretty knowledgeable. Make sure you ask about the unofficial history too. Official one was written by Spanish.
  • Old building where, according to history, the Inca Atahualpa did collect a treasure, to pay for their freedom. Stands a mark indicating the level to which was filled with gold and silver, for this purpose and a slab where supposedly, was subjected to the stick penalty.
