Ransom Room, Cajamarca

3.4
Visit Ransom Room to see the room in which the Incan Emperor Atahualpa was imprisoned in the 16th century. In the waning days of the Incan Empire, the emperor was captured by Spanish conquistadores led by Francisco Pizarro. While in captivity, Atahualpa offered to pay his ransom by filling the room he was held in with gold, and the two adjacent rooms with silver. Ultimately the Spanish accepted the ransom, but executed the emperor anyway. Hire a guide for the full story of the capture and ransom, as well as interesting facts about the room itself. A typical room rectangular Inca where it seems was imprisoned Ataualpa waiting to collect the ransom in gold and silver to give the Spaniards Frankly a rip-off

We can with only a receipt of purchase, have the option to visit the rescue room, museums, hospitals that are like museums and the Bethlehem Church. If we pay for a guide, you can easily ask the explanation of everything that comprises our ticket. The rescue is where Atahualpa offered, to where give your hand full of gold so they release it.

The place is OK, but quite far from what one would expect from such historical places. Is the price of the guides? Excessive.

Guides are only in Spanish, pretty knowledgeable. Make sure you ask about the unofficial history too. Official one was written by Spanish.
