Plaza de Armas de Cajamarca, Cajamarca

4.4
Visit the spacious Plaza de Armas de Cajamarca, the city's main meeting point and notable place in Peru's history. It was on this square that the Spaniards executed Atahualpa, the last Incan emperor, whose death ultimately led to the dissolution and fall of the Incan empire. Roaming the square, you can admire many important buildings, including a cathedral and picturesque colonial-era houses. Rest while listening to the calming sounds of the fountain, or enjoy the view of surrounding mountains from a cafe. Excellent view, very clean, simple, uncluttered and without much trade and has one of the churches pretty who has seen more. Everything has it close, so it is advisable to stay on the outskirts.

They have a nice square, highlights the Cathedral and the large amount of business that is. We had the good fortune to attend a retreat, on the one hand with the band of musicians of the national police, who stood out by their melodies and with another band of the place.

Cajamarca's Plaza de Armas is its central square, comprising paths and grassed areas (but they don't want you to walk on the grass). There are quite a few park benches, and people also it on some of the low walls. Surrounding the plaza are some grand old churches, and other interesting and historic buildings. From here it's a short walk to the historic Belén area or up to the lookout at Cerro Santa Apolonia. There are lots of eating places nearby, ranging from "posh and excellent" (such as the Costa Del Sol Restaurant) to "basic but super-cheap" (places full of locals having fixed-menu meals)
