Cumbemayo, Cajamarca
(4.8/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
Take a tour of the ruins of Cumbemayo, a canal system that represents one of the oldest man-made structures in South America. Built by a pre-Incan nation sometime around 1500 BCE, the canals probably served to regulate water flow. See the aqueduct built from volcanic stone, hike along caves and interesting rock formations, and view the "Stone Monks"--large volcanic pillars weathered to peculiar shapes. On some of the rocks and structures, ancient petroglyphs provide insight into the advanced society that once inhabited the area. • Medium walk and it is worth doing so to see such beautiful landscapes. Cumbemayo stone forest is one of the places that should be visited if or if in Cajamarca.

  • If these in Cajamarca, have to whether or if visit Cumbemayo! My friends and I, we went to Cumbemayo taking a tour that we bought it in an agency that is in the Plaza de armas, but basically this 'tour' was only the mobility of ida and return and it included the entrance to Cumbemayo, since usually this tour costs 20 soles but we pay S /. 16 per person, because we did not desire a guide since we wanted to walk on our own, so if units are in a group of 12 to 15 people can ask a band just for you is much better. Travel do it in 2 hours walking at moderate pace and with respective stops for photos. In our case we could not complete travel because there was fire and each time was more strong, so came policemen, firefighters and some residents to try to appease the fire but not much favourable outcome. Despite the smoke and everything, we had a super in the place and we were able to take photos super straws, highly recommended! PS: If you have University meat can pay less at the entrance to Cumbemayo (S /. 4.00), but must specify that the person to make the treatment of the tour.

  • beautiful experience, not to be missed! the walk is light basante, a fraction in which if you go with older people should give the hand if they need help to raise the stone, but the rest of the walk is super light, can be done with the whole family.
