Take a tour of the ruins of Cumbemayo, a canal system that represents one of the oldest man-made structures in South America. Built by a pre-Incan nation sometime around 1500 BCE, the canals probably served to regulate water flow. See the aqueduct built from volcanic stone, hike along caves and interesting rock formations, and view the "Stone Monks"--large volcanic pillars weathered to peculiar shapes. On some of the rocks and structures, ancient petroglyphs provide insight into the advanced society that once inhabited the area. To get here is better take a tour that is super cheap. It has all the necessary services and is in good condition (even if people are not careful in not dirty). The views from different parts is great, the rock formations are amazing. The adventurous side is when you walk through the tunnel at the beginning but isn't very difficult. Also find a preinca channel that leaves you amazed. Luckily there was a small storm that afternoon but it was part of that wonderful experience :)show original
