Vicino all'al... read more »The Church of San Francesco, characterized by a 17th century Baroque façade, much more restrained than the Cathedral, is undoubtedly the first Christian shrine built in Peru. Near the altar is the entrance to the catacombs. The Church is part of a convent open to the public, which occupies the site on which stood a temple or Palace which the Spaniards called it by the name of Fuente del Inca. The monastery has a supposed museu where you are guided by children repeating a text like parrots and showing you the obvious, treating you as ignorant. Blaming the poor quality of the paints on photos taken along the years as bad mantaince had no part of it. Reason for no pictures are allowed inside Not recomended

In the year 1562 the convent was completed and lived here the first Franciscans. The more famous of them was Matthew of Jumila who despite not be priest was which evangelizes to Cajamarca and Chachapoyas.show original
