Cerro Santa Apolonia, Cajamarca
Categories: Landmarks, Tourist Spots
Climb Cerro Santa Apolonia for great views from a hilltop vantage point covered in gardens and carved rocks. Primarily the work of Incas, the site's structures were used in ceremonies to worship the rain, the lightning, and stars. The panoramic view from the top photographs well and links the modern town with the historical site and the landscape around it. Reach the top on a stroll up the stone steps (with vendors selling street food, such as tamales, if you fancy a break), or by a brief taxi ride. You should go well sheltered because there is a lot of wind, the best time is to go to watch the sunset.show original
