Cerro Santa Apolonia, Cajamarca
(4.6/5 based on 360+ reviews on the web)
Climb Cerro Santa Apolonia for great views from a hilltop vantage point covered in gardens and carved rocks. Primarily the work of Incas, the site's structures were used in ceremonies to worship the rain, the lightning, and stars. The panoramic view from the top photographs well and links the modern town with the historical site and the landscape around it. Reach the top on a stroll up the stone steps (with vendors selling street food, such as tamales, if you fancy a break), or by a brief taxi ride. • To get you can walk or take a taxi, which takes you to the top, and one can get walking. If you go with a guide can hear the history of the chairs of the Inca and why the place is called Santa Apolonia. It is quite interesting. Down you can find shops and crafts fairs.

  • An experience to climb up to there, but worth it. The view of the city is spectacular. Much people goes up walking but others prefer to do it in taxi to 5 Suns.
