Drive up to Salinas y Aguada Blanca National Reserve, almost 5,000 m (15,000 ft) above sea level, to witness a large variety of landscape and an abundance of wildlife. The reserve was created in 1979 with the purpose of preserving the natural surroundings of the Andean plains and the species that inhabit it. As you ride along the well-maintained road, absorb views of snow-capped mountains, lagoons, wetlands, and volcanoes. Watch for high-altitude species such as llamas, alpacas, vicunas, or the rare guanaco. Visit the Lake Salina area for sightings of various colorful birds, including three different species of flamingo.   • We went to Colca by way of this national park and its a great trip taking you to a high of 4.900 meters and offering views of active vulcanoes and other Andes summits and the elusive vicunas 
  • Place with great views of what the flora and fauna andina, traveling three hours from Arequipa. Llamas can be seen in the wild.
