Museo Santuarios Andinos is famous for its collection of Incan ice mummies, including a 600-year-old frozen body of a young girl called Juanita. Start your visit with the film about this discovery and the history of the Incan child sacrifices to the mountain gods. Then, browse the exhibits of pottery, jewelry, textiles, and figurines, which were buried along with the mummies as funeral offerings. Exhibited in a refrigerated glass case in the last room, Juanita's body undergoes restoration every year, while another mummy takes her place. • The museum is small and focused around the discovery of some children that were offered in the Inca time to please the gods. After a movie a guide takes you on a tour from object to object. In the end...  more »
  • The visit is very well articulated with an explanatory video and accompaniment of a guide in Spanish. The content is about the archaeology work involving the discovery of "Juanita". A must for the historical knowledge about humanity.

  • Hi, this museum is very interesting, it is not very large but contains within it some objects of great value. The mummy is awesome, the tour includes a movie, also in Italian, which lasts 20 minutes. Followed by a short visit of exhibition halls. Not to be missed, especially for those who have seen a similar Museum in Bolzano.

  • Great to see and learn more about Juanita. You have to pay for a guide and entrance, which is a bit expensive
  • Educational and interesting. Might be a bit expensive, as others stated, but worth the money.
  • A little bit expensive at 20 soles entry. There are tours in Spanish and English, tips are expected. Interesting artifacts and of course, Juanita!
  • It's 20 soles but I didn't get inside
  • Weird.
