Mundo Alpaca, Arequipa

4.1
Head to Mundo Alpaca to tour the farm and perhaps buy some hand-woven alpaca clothing. The tour will take you through the process of producing the wool and give an actual demonstration of the clothing being woven into a finished garment with exquisite patterns. Along the way you’ll be able to pet and feed with the alpacas and llamas and, of course, buy some of the final products yourself. A big store with alpaca and vicuña wool articles. But the nice thing here is that there us a small museum type exhibition of where the wool comes from and how it is processed to the consumer articles. Worth a half hour visit for sure.

Nice place to learn about the famous Ilama and Alpaca. There you can see live animals, the raw wool materials and live weaving by a local lady Peruvian weaver.

Where to stay in Arequipa

Most accommodations in Arequipa cluster on the east side of the Chili River. The historical center offers the best selection of options, with plenty of budget hostels and mid-range hotels scattered throughout its streets. For something quieter, look north to the neighborhoods of Zemanat and San Jacinto. If you're looking for a suburban experience, stay in the western neighborhood of Yanahuara.
